Review

Books are like food. Sometimes you want something nourishing and sometimes you want something sweet, decadent, and just a bit bad for you. Switching Hour is a perfect bite of paranormal chocolate, a treat for the reader who simply wants to relax and enjoy.

You have a witch who is good hearted, but more than a bit crazy, her resurrected familiar (who wouldn't want a cat who utterly adores you, cooks delicious meals and brings home designer clothes), a hunky werewolf and a whole horde of shifters of various kinds - all thrown together in "ahem" Asscrack West Virginia ie. the end of the world. Naturally most of the novel focuses on Zelda's relationships, particularly with her oddball cat Fabio and her romantic entanglement with the local Alpha. There is a lot of comedy, a heavy dose of innuendo, a bit of action, and a smidgen of a different kind of action. "wink" All in all Switching Hour is a fun short read that will leave the reader looking forward to the next installment in Robyn Peterman's Magic & Mayhem series.

4/5

I received a copy of Switching Hour from the publisher and Netgalley.com in exchange for an honest review.

Description

Released from the magic pokey and paroled with limited power is enough to make any witch grumpy. However, if you throw in a recently resurrected cat, a lime-green Kia and a sexy egotistical werewolf, it's enough to make a gal fly off the edge.

Not to mention a mission...with no freaking directions.

So here I sit in Asscrack, West Virginia trying to figure out how to complete my mysterious mission before All Hallows Eve when I’ll get turned into a mortal. The animals in the area are convinced I'm the Shifter Whisperer (whatever the hell that is) and the hotter-than- asphalt-in-August werewolf thinks I'm his mate. Now apparently I'm slated to save a bunch of hairy freaks of nature?

If they think I'm the right witch for the job, they've swallowed some bad brew.
