Beneath Midnight's crossroads something is waking

Night Shift: A Novel of Midnight Texas By Charlaine Harris Berkley Publishing Group Sci Fi & Fantasy Pub Date: May 3, 2016 Review The third of Harris's Midnight novels, Night Shift, is possibly the best one yet. Midnight is a town that takes care of its own. The residents prefer to keep to themselves, keeping their secrets hidden from prying eyes. Only a handful are human. Something is trying to awaken beneath the crossroads. People are inexplicably coming to Midnight, only to commit suicide at the crossroads. Death brings unwanted attention, and all of the residents feel trouble coming. Lemeul is working on the translation of a text that may hold the key to preventing a disaster of great magnitude. It is in Night Shift that Fiji finally comes into her own as a witch, gaining confidence in her magic and her womanhood. Although all of the characters are important, Fiji's role in Night Shift is essential. Be prepared for quite a few revelations. Whether you simply enjoy urban fantasy or are a fan of Charlaine Harris, Night Shift is a novel that is not to be missed. 5/5 I received a copy of Night Shift from the publisher and netgalley.com in exchange for an honest review. --Crittermom Description From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Sookie Stackhouse novels—“the Mark Twain of things that live under your bed”*—comes a new novel of Midnight, Texas, the town where some secrets will never see the light of day... For if all hell breaks loose—which just might happen—it will put the secretive town on the map, where no one wants it to be...
