Will Diesel be banished from the library?

No Cats Allowed: A Cat in the Stacks mystery by Miranda James Berkley Publishing Group Mystery & Thrillers Pub Date: February 23, 2016 Review Miranda James crafts an excellent mystery, and No Cats Allowed is no exception. The seventh in the Cat in the Stacks mystery series is easily as good as the first. Unlike many cozy series, the quality of Miranda James's novels has remained high throughout. This series is perfect for anyone looking for a relaxing cozy with an unforgettable feline lead. In No Cats Allowed, Charlie Harris and his Maine Coon Diesel are faced with clearing the name of their close friend Melba when the new library director, Elwyn Dillard is found murdered. Elwyn Dillard was far from popular - his cost-cutting plans target the archive and the rare book collection. At various times, he threatened all of the staff, and even tried to get Diesel removed from the library. Charlie knows that Melba, the director's secretary, is no murderer, and suspects abound amongst the library staff. Charlie is amiable and practical. His mild nature makes him a likable lead, and Diesel is a cat who stands out. He is eager to help, and is extremely supportive of his network of friends. One of the things I like about the Cat in the Stacks mysteries are the wide range of supporting characters. Miranda James embraces diversity and the novels are all the better for it. If you like cozies and cats, you can do no better than to pick up one of the Cat in the Stacks mysteries. No Cats Allowed is a fantastic choice, appropriate for mystery lovers of all ages. The books do not have to be read in order. 5/5 I received a copy of No Cats Allowed from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. --Crittermom Description In the latest mystery in the New York Times bestselling Cat in the Stacks series, librarian Charlie Harris and his Maine Coon cat Diesel must clear a friend when the evidence is stacked against her… Springtime in Mississippi is abloom with beauty, but the library's employees are too busy worrying to stop and smell the flowers. The new library director, Elwyn Dillard, is a brash, unfriendly Yankee who's on a mission to cut costs—and his first targets are the archive and the rare book collection. As annoying as a long-overdue book, Dillard quickly raises the hackles of everyone on staff, including Charlie's fiery friend Melba—whom Dillard wants to replace with someone younger. But his biggest offense is declaring all four-legged creatures banned from the stacks. With enemies aplenty, the suspect list is long when Dillard's body is discovered in the library. But things take a turn for the worse when a threatening e-mail throws suspicion on Melba. Charlie is convinced that his friend is no murderer, especially when he catches sight of a menacing stranger lurking around the library. Now he and Diesel will have to read between the lines, before Melba is shelved under “G” for guilty…
