Home is Where the Bark Is
Home Is where the Bark Is Paws Fur Play Mysteries: Book One by Stella St. Claire Relay Publishing General Fiction (Adult) , Mystery & Thrillers Pub Date 04 Jul 2018
Home is Where the Bark Is has charm in abundance and will readily appeal to fans of light mysteries. Willow Wells is starting a new life in her hometown after her divorce. Her plans are to turn her Aunt’s property into a dog gym and training facility. But her plans are threatened when her sister’s cat Rover and her dog Telescope unearth the body of a local developer - one known to be in conflict with Griffin, Willow’s contractor. With Griffin as lead suspect, and his accounts frozen by the police, Willow’s building deadlines look like a lost cause. Needless to say Willow decides to investigate with the help of her sister Wednesday and Griffin. She may not have her father, the police chief ‘s experience, but what she does have is determination in abundance. Everyone says Lee Hunter was a good guy, but clearly someone had a motive…
Willow and Wednesday’s attempts at gathering information are haphazard and more than a little obvious, but their intentions are good. The mystery is easy to solve as long as you pay attention. I particularly liked how some chapters were from Griffin’s point of view.
There is nothing in Home is Where the Bark Is that will offend anyone. It is a straightforward light mystery with likable characters and charming animals. Stella St Claire’s debut Paws fur play mystery is an entertaining novel that will appeal to mystery lovers of all ages.

I received a copy of Home is Where the Bark Is from the publisher and Netgalley.com in exchange for an honest review.
All Willow Wells wanted was a fresh start. After a divorce that left her a dog trainer with no dogs to train, inheriting her Aunt’s property (complete with a downtrodden dog gym) seemed like the answer to her prayers. That is until the first day of excavation uncovers a dead local real estate mogul, and pins her current contractor as the lead suspect. With his funds frozen, and with no way to return Willow’s money, contractor Griffin Maynard has no choice but to join forces with his high school crush who also happens to be his current client—new arrival Willow Wells. Together they must find the real murderer and get construction back underway before both of their businesses go bottom up. But as they follow the trail of town gossip, Willow and Griffin discover more buried secrets than they first thought, and time is running out to solve this murder before they lose everything.
