Review

Stay Calm and Collie on is a delightful pet cozy that is certain to leave animal lovers with a smile.

Sue Patrick and Lady Anthea Fitzwalter are wonderfully paired. While Sue is practical and a skilled businesswoman, Lady Anthea has ample experience managing people. Together they must find the killer of Buckingham Pet Palace’s driver - who was found dead in the back of the Palace’s van, surrounded by dogs. Rumors are circulating about the Palace’s safety and customers are leaving in droves. It’s up to Sue and Anthea to save the Palace’s reputation in time for the Pet Parent Appreciation Gala.

Stay Calm and Collie On is a low stress read. Sue and Lady Anthea aren’t suspects, so the main tension is related to keeping their customers. There is also a delightful bit of romantic interaction between Sue and the local Sheriff. Their interactions always left me with a grin because they were the perfect mix of sweet and humorous. Expect plenty of British witticisms and Elvis related humor. Lane’s attention to detail is what makes Stay Calm and Collie On special - from the groomers’ outfits to Sue’s knowledge of Elvis songs.

Besides being filled with a copious quantity of pooches, Stay Calm and Collie On is filled with humor, action and just the right amount of romance. I definitely look forward to the next cozy in this series.

Description

Buckingham Pet Palace is known for treating dogs like royalty—until murder dethrones its good reputation!

As owner of an upscale doggy daycare and spa, animal-lover Sue Patrick pampers pooches for the most elite clients in Lewes, Delaware. Surely she can survive a weeklong visit from Lady Anthea Fitzwalter, her well-to-do business partner from England. But before Sue can serve her guest a spot of tea, she discovers more-than-a-spot of blood inside the company van—and all over the driver’s dead body . . .

Someone abandoned the van full of dogs at the Lewes ferry terminal and got away with murder, leaving Sue and Lady Anthea pawing for clues. With a fundraising gala approaching and Buckingham Pet Palace facing scandal, can two very different women work together to fetch the culprit from a list of dodgy suspects—or are they heading toward a proper disaster?
