Who doesn't like pancakes? Whether savory or sweet, pancakes are a delectable treat but not the most nutritious selection. Like its namesake, Crepes of Wrath is an enjoyable treat, a light mystery that is a pleasant way to pass a lazy afternoon. Don't expect complex puzzles or nail-biting suspense. Instead Crepes of Wrath offers a comfortable experience. Bad guys and good alike are painted with wide strokes for easy identification. There is never any doubt that the murderer will be found and that there will be a happy ending. The main question is which of the unpleasant characters killed cousin Jimmy and why.

If you think I didn't like Crepes of Wrath, then I've given the wrong impression. I enjoyed the novel very much. It is a perfect choice for mystery lovers looking for stress-free escapism, something everyone needs at one point or another. Flapjack the cat is an added bonus, as are the delicious sounding recipes included at the end.

Crepes of Wrath is the solidly written debut to Sarah Fox's promising new cozy series.

I received a copy of Crepes of Wrath from the publisher and in exchange for an honest review.

In the debut of a delightful cozy mystery series, Sarah Fox introduces a charming new heroine who finds herself in a sticky situation: stacking pancakes, pouring coffee, and investigating murder.

When Marley McKinney's aging cousin, Jimmy, is hospitalized with pneumonia, she agrees to help run his pancake house while he recovers. With its rustic interior and syrupy scent, the Flip Side Pancake House is just as she pictured it—and the surly chef is a wizard with crêpes. Marley expects to spend a leisurely week or two in Wildwood Cove, the quaint, coastal community where she used to spend her summers, but then Cousin Jimmy is found murdered, sprawled on the rocks beneath a nearby cliff.

After she stumbles across evidence of stolen goods in Jimmy's workshop, Marley is determined to find out what's really going on in the not-so-quiet town of Wildwood Cove. With help from her childhood crush and her adopted cat, Flapjack, Marley sinks her teeth into the investigation. But if she's not careful, she's going to get burned by a killer who's only interested in serving up trouble.
