Tired of the same old reruns? Finished binge-watching your favorite series? Turn off the TV and subscribe to Serial-box. This unique format takes an overall plotline and provides weekly stand-alone episodes designed to be read in a limited time period. Episodes are written by some of the most talented names in science fiction and fantasy. If you believe you have too little free time to read to read quality fiction, Serial Box will prove you wrong.
The Bookburners isn't what you might expect from the title. It is a nickname for a crack team of investigators working for a secret division of the Vatican. Magic is real and extremely dangerous. Books open doorways for powerful beings who possess unwitting readers for their own ends culminating in death and destruction. Detective Sal Brooks discovers the book burners when her brother Perry is possessed by a text. They save him, but the damage has been done, and his mind is potentially lost. Sal joins with Team 3 in hopes of protecting Perry and discovering a cure. The Season One Omnibus edition of The Bookburners contains all 16 episodes from Season One. Although each episode is written by a different author, each story is excellent.
If you enjoy paranormal fantasy with a hefty dose of mystery and action, The Bookburners is a great choice. Fans of series like Warehouse 13 and The Librarians will enjoy The Bookburners.
I received a copy of The Bookburners Season One Omnibus from the publisher and netgalley.com in exchange for an honest review.
Magic is real, and hungry—trapped in ancient texts and artifacts, only a few who discover it survive to fight back. Detective Sal Brooks is a survivor. Freshly awake to just what dangers are lurking, she joins a Vatican-backed black-ops anti-magic squad: Team Three of the Societas Librorum Occultorum. Together they stand between humanity and magical apocalypse. Some call them the Bookburners. They don’t like the label.
Bookburners is an episodic serial presented by Serial Box Publishing. This collected omnibus edition gathers all 16 episodes from Season 1.
