Caturday Reads: Catch as Cat Can

Catch as Cat Can By Claire Donally Berkley Press Mystery & Thrillers Pub Date : May 3, 2016 Review

Cat lovers definitely should pick up a copy of this purrfectly thrilling mystery. Sunny and her inimitable tomcat Shadow are back in Catch as Cat Can, Claire Donally's newest Kittery Harbor mystery. This new addition is just as good as her previous mysteries, and is a good choice for newcomers who enjoy cozies as well as fans of the series. Not only is the mystery well-composed, but Donally does a marvelous job depicting Shadow's point of view. While ruled by his stomach, desire for comfort and curiosity, he manages to be just in the right place at the right time..in this case - the fish market next door to Sunny's office. Neil Garrett's shop is the source of an ample supply of delicacies no cat can ignore (particularly one of Shadow's sensible nature). Unfortunately, winter hasn't been kind to the struggling business and neither has fate as Sunny and Neil discover a very dead body in the shop. The more the police uncover, the more Neil looks a likely suspect. But Sunny smells something fishy and can't help but assist Will in his investigation. While the cast isn't big, the recurring characters are nicely developed, particularly Shadow who easily steals the scene whether he is sneaking rides into town or contemplating knocking down a vase of flowers. Catch as Cat Can is a delightful light mystery certain to satisfy cat lovers and cozy aficionados alike 5/5 I received a copy of Catch as Cat Can from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Catch as Cat Can is Claire Donally's 5th Sunny & Shadow mystery. The books do not have to be enjoyed in order. -Crittermom Description Neil Garret is new to town, but his seafood shop is already going belly up. Now it’s up to Sunny to find the real culprit and get Neil off the hook
