The Crooked Finger is a sweet gothic adventure

The Crooked Finger By Angus McVicar Endeavour Press Mystery & Thrillers Pub Date: March 24, 2016 Review The Crooked Finger has everything a fan of gothics can ask for - a beautiful and intelligent lead, a mysterious and handsome challenger, an isolated setting, a cryptogram leading to a hidden treasure, and more than a bit of danger and romance. Angus McVicar's novel is as appealing today, as when it was first published many decades ago. Eileen's father left her a legacy, a map and a cryptogram purporting to lead to a hidden treasure. The documents are stolen by a mysterious man with a crooked finger - the sign of her grandfather's enemy. Fortunately she made a copy, and it leads her to a small island off Scotland where two mysteries await - the solution to the cryptogram and the identity of the man with the crooked finger. I liked this novel immensely, and particularly enjoyed McVicar's ideas about the importance of both people working towards making a lasting and loving marriage. Falling in love is easy, creating a strong relationship takes effort, patience, and the willingness to sacrifice personal pride. Speaking from personal experience, much of the advice is good. The Crooked Finger is a sweet romantic adventure with a touch of mystery and danger. It is the perfect antidote for a jaded palate. 5/5 I received a copy of The Crooked Finger from the publisher and in exchange for an honest review. --Crittermom Description “A fast-moving tale…” - The Scotsman Summer passions, like summer storms, are more dangerous than the dull desires of winter… On her twenty-first birthday, Eileen receives a mysterious envelope from her long-dead father.
