A Scone to Die For is a delicious treat for cozy lovers

A Scone To Die For: Oxford Tearoom Mysteries #1 by H.Y. Hanna Wisheart Press Humor, Mystery & Thrillers Pub Date: January 22, 2016 Review I always love discovering talented new authors. H.Y. Hanna definitely fits the bill. A Scone to Die For is a delightfully clever British cozy mystery set against the fascinating backdrop of Oxford. Gemma Rose has made her dream of owning a teashop a reality. The business is slowly growing a reputation amongst locals and tourists for delicious baked goods - especially scones. Not all customers are pleasant, however, and one particularly abrasive American ends up dead outside her shop, a scone shoved in his mouth. Unless Gemma can uncover the killer, her business may end up dead as well. I enjoyed the many plot twists. The murder was cleverly plotted. It was easy to see how multiple people would have a motive for the murder as well as the opportunity. Like Gemma, I didn't realize the identity of the killer until the end. Hanna also does a wonderful job of smoothly incorporating descriptions into her writing. I'm certain there are American readers who have wondered what spotted dick is and what a teacake is really like without wanting to read a dictionary definition. I was very impressed by Hanna's writing style There is a hint of possible future romance, and a charming kitty by the name of Muesli (who I hope will have a bigger role in future novels) as well. All in all, A Scone to Die For is a charming cozy appropriate for all ages of mystery lover. If you like British cozies, you will like A Scone to Die For. 5/5 I received a copy of A Scone to Die For from the publisher and Netgalley.com in exchange for an honest review. --Crittermom Description When an American tourist is murdered with a scone in Gemma Rose’s quaint Oxfordshire tearoom, she suddenly finds herself apron-deep in a mystery involving long-buried secrets from Oxford’s past. But with the body count rising and her business going bust, can Gemma find the killer before things turn to custard?
