Review

Rose Pressey is one of the most prolific writers of paranormal cozies. Her books are fun and entertaining, and generally have memorable characters and a tiny touch of romance.

Haunt Couture and Ghosts Galore features the irrepressible Cookie Chanel, a 5 ft 2 fashion maven with a love of all things vintage. Her constant companions are Charlotte, a sassy ghost always ready to offer advice and Wind Song, her psychic cat. Yes psychic - Wind Song offers clues through tarot cards or a ouija board.

A local fashion show offers Cookie the opportunity to showcase her vintage finds by pairing them with edgy new fashions. After the show, she discovers the designer dead, and one of the models standing over the body. The police believe the model killed Melanie, but Cookie and Charlotte aren't convinced. They are joined by another ghost, a former PI, who insists that Cookie needs to find the killer.

Cookie is not an experienced investigator, but fortunately she has backup in the form of her ghosts, her friend Heather and Dylan, the dishy police detective - not to mention Wind Song who steals the show.

Not much happens in the first half of the novel, but the action swiftly picks up after that point. It was fun to accompany Cookie on her misadventures, even though the identity of the murderer was obvious.

Haunt Couture and Ghosts Galore is a fun fast read, filled with quirky characters, misadventures, and great vintage fashions. It is a great choice for mystery lovers of all ages.
